Brow Lamination: The perfect no fuss brows
Waking up with beautifully put-together brows has been life-changing.
I was probably in my 20s before I started doing my brow. I know gasp. Brows weren’t a big thing back then and I wasn’t super comfortable with how to do them. The products and techniques have come so far now I can’t imagine not having them done. It is no secret I am very pale. My lashes and brows are also super blonde. My features definitely come to life when I have brows filled in and mascara on, but that also means taking the time to do them. Even on the days that I don’t plan on wearing makeup, I will still define my brows and put some mascara on.
About a year ago I started seeing information about brow lamination and knew I wanted to try it. I have now had mine done three times. The process is kind of like a perm for your brows, but instead of curling the hair, it works to straighten each hair. Each hair is set in place and this helps give them a fluffier appearance. I combine my brow lamination with a brow tint for maximum impact. This means in the morning all I have to do is comb through them a spooly and they are set. Eventually, the tint starts to fade/your hair will begin to grow out and the lamination will wear off which means adding in a little color and a setting product but I find it takes about 4-6 weeks for it to all wear entirely off. Some say the lamination can hold for us to 8 weeks.
Benefits of Brow Lamination
it is not permanent, which means you can change your look
there is zero pain, this is not like microblading
no downtime, but be sure to not get your brows wet for 24 hours
Cons of Brow Lamination
it isn’t permanent
it can be hard to color match for blondes. I go substantially darker than my natural color. Also, be careful if you are blonde that your brows don’t end up too yellow or orange. That is what was happening in the fourth picture. Thankfully my brow artist Kendra is awesome and was able to get the color corrected.
you can fry your brows, just like any chemical process can fry your hair. It is important to find a trained professional to make sure you are in good hands.
One last thing to keep in mind is if you are doing this process for a big event I would recommend doing it 4-5 days prior. You can’t get your brows wet for 24 hours, and then they are going to be a lot darker than you are used. This will give your color a few days to mellow out.
