Why Shaving Your Face is a Game Changer

Let me start by saying, don’t knock it until you try it. And I’d bet money that once start, you’ll love it. I started shaving my face in 2020—not because I had a mustache to hide, but because I was curious about the skincare benefits.

If you’ve noticed, I have REALLY blonde hair. Of course, my first worry was “is this peach fuzz going to grow in darker and thicker?” But after doing some research, and talking to my esthetician, I was reassured that this wouldn’t happen.

Why Shave Off Peach Fuzz?

Shaving your face is just another form of exfoliation. No matter how much moisturizer you use, if you don’t exfoliate to remove dead skin, your products won’t absorb as well. You’re spending good money on effective products you don’t want them just sitting on top of peach fuzz and dead skin!

Exfoliating has huge benefits for fine lines too. Think about the men in your life. Ever notice how their skin seems to age slower, even though all they use is bar soap? That’s because they shave regularly, and we don’t.

Another perk? My makeup goes on so much smoother without that layer of peach fuzz acting as a barrier.

What Should You Use?

For me, this facial razor has been the easiest to maneuver, but you can also use a men’s razor. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s sharp and clean. If you are using the same razor as we it is really important to use a new razor every time.

It is also important that your skin is clean. This EVER cleanser is still my hands-down favorite. Then I apply my moisturizer and let that sit for a few minutes. The more supple your skin is the less friction and irritation. Then, grab your razor and hold it at a 45-degree angle. Use short strokes, going in the direction the hair grows. Be extra careful around your eyebrows and hairline. Once you’re done, wipe your face clean and moisturize well. I steer clear of my serums with active ingredients for 12 hours.

My skin looks its best when I do this weekly, though sometimes I slack off and it ends up being once a month.

So, Are You In?

I can’t wait to hear how it goes for you because I’m betting you’ll love it!
